How Find the Perfect Shoes for Your Jeans

We’re always on the hunt for that perfect pair of jeans. With so many styles out there, choosing the right one can be tricky. Jeans are super versatile—dress them up or down, but then the question is: which shoes pair best with each style? Our Senior Stylist, Clare, has picked out some great neutral shoe options that really work with the latest denim trends. Whether you’re just out for a casual coffee or off to a dinner, we’ll show you how to find the perfect shoes for your jeans so you can step out in style.

STRAIGHT LEG, ANKLE GRAZER JEANS

Ankle grazer jeans, with their flattering cut, are the easiest to pair with footwear because almost any style works as long as we can see the ankle. If you prefer wearing boots, choose a pair with a slimmer shaft as it will create a sleek silhouette that tucks neatly under the hemline of your jeans.

WIDE LEG JEANS

Generally speaking a pointed toe, open sandal or a slimmer trainer will look best with a wide leg. The key is to get the maximum leg length (about 1cm above the floor) but make sure the heel height of your shoes is similar so you can easily switch up you look. If you want more length consider a platform trainer or a kitten heel.

BOOTCUT & FLARED JEANS

Boot cut jeans generally look best with less chunky footwear. A pointed square or almond toe shoe with a little heel works best. Alternatively try a low heel boot, platform trainer or kitten heel to suit different occasion whilst maintaining the maximum length length required to carry bootcut or flared jeans off.

CARROT & BARREL JEANS

The unique shapes of barrel and carrot jeans look best in ankle-grazer lengths. Sticking to this style and length opens up a plethora of shoe options. However, if you opt for more extreme styles of carrot and barrel-leg jeans, you’ll find that more feminine shoes tend to be more flattering.

Now is the perfect time to refresh your look, starting from the ground up with the perfect pair of shoes. Remember, the key to a successful pairing lies in balancing proportions and choosing footwear that complements the style of your jeans. Whether you prefer classic straight leg jeans, the bold statement of wide legs, the timeless appeal of bootcut jeans, or the playful silhouette of barrel jeans, there’s a shoe out there for you.
